Is coaching (with me) right for you?
And how do you help people decide whether you're the right coach for them?
I’m on holiday this week so have done something I don’t often do - scheduled a post!
I can be quite ‘ad hoc’ when it comes to content and the things I write and post, and I find that suits me well. I will sometimes have a bit of a ‘planning meeting’ with myself for content, but often something will just come to me and the words flow.
That moment just happened (to past me) and so I decided to write about it so current you could read it today.
The question I’d like to ask is, ‘Is coaching with me right for you?’
I often hear and read opinions about whether coaching is right for someone, and indeed how to find the right coach to work with.
But if you follow me, and think I might be the right coach, what next?
There are a few things you can do to try and make sure I am the right coach. And yes, it’s possible I’m not the right coach for you. It could be we’re not the right fit for each other. In that case, I’d try and make suggestions of other coaches I know.
I work with freelancers, the self-employed, entrepreneurs, small business owners and anyone considering the leap to working for themselves.
But if you’re thinking ‘Jenny, I think you’re the right one!’ then here’s what to do next…
1) Have a look at my social media and website. Watch some of the content, get a feel for me, my ethos, how I approach freelance life and the way I speak.
2) If you like the look and sound of all that, then you can book a discovery call, 15 or so minutes on the phone or Zoom to ask me about the coaching process and what I offer.
3) Hold up! That was a big step?! OK, so you could hold off on the call and instead go to the testimonials on my website. You could even look at the profiles of the people who have said nice things about working with me as a coach and see if they’ll chat to you directly.
4) OK, then it’s time for a discovery call!
5) Once we’ve chatted, it’s time to decide. It might be you want to give it some thought, and if that’s the case, that’s fine with me. If you want to jump right in, then we’ll set up a time and day for session one and I’ll send you a pre-session questionnaire.
Coaching with me is all about getting you out of a rut as a freelancer, or helping you decide if freelancing is for you. It’s about helping you unravel the big ball of string that is your ‘feels’ about self-employed life.
It’s also for those who are considering going self-employed or have a side-hustle and aren’t sure what to do next.
I don’t give you answers, or my opinion - instead, I help you find your own. That’s way more empowering and useful! That’s what has worked for me as a client to my coach, too, and with those who have coached me so far. It’s that ‘client led clarity’ that makes coaching so unique, in my opinion.
So now, here’s a question for the coaches - how do you show people what you do and offer them ways to decide if they should work with you?
